Best Pulldown Machine

A pulldown machine buffers the latissimus Dorsi muscle group. It is a machine that the user grabs a pulley with both hands at pulls it down to lift weights. These weights, in turn, develop the latissmus dorsi muscle group. The user stays in a sitting position while using the pulldown machine. It is a muscle group nestled basically under the armpit near the rib cage area. if you decide to use one of these pulldown machines you must be careful to start at a weight you can handle. If you jump ahead and try and pull too much weight, in the beginning, you could seriously injure your back, maybe separate a shoulder, and tear ligaments in the arms. You must choose a weight level that you can comfortably handle.

Once you master that weight level then you move up to the next higher level. A good common sense rule to follow is to upgrade the weights by 5 or 10 pounds at a time. You must position yourself correctly on the floor and pull the weight down slowly and deliberately. If the weights pull up off the ground and you cannot stay seated while pulling the weights down. Then you are trying to pull down too much weight. The right weight level will allow you to sit and stay sitting while you pull the weights down. There are also pull down machines that are equipped with pulleys and cables that do not accommodate weights but they develop the same basic muscle groups. Here are some of the better pull down machines:

XMark Lat Pulldown and Low Row Cable Machine XM-7618

Benefits and Uses: This pull down machine costs a whopping $572.00 dollars which is much higher than other pull down machines available on the market. For this price, it should be of the highest quality and meet the highest of manufacturing processes. This must be a machine that offers a lot of benefits as well. It has high and low pulley stations and it has an impressive 400 lb. weight limit. You can use either standard or Olympic plate weights with this pull down machine. The mainframe is made of 11 gauge steel construction and the finish is a coated powder that is resistant to scratching. You can get optional cables and bars from the manufacturer. Beware of shipping this product weighs 300 lbs. so the carrier may not deliver it to your front door for obvious reasons.

Feedback: The initial reviewer was satisfied with the product. The person wanted a pulldown machine that would not bankrupt them and take up their whole house. For years they dreamed of adding this machine to their home gym. They bought this one and thought it was reasonably priced at $572.00 dollars. The machine is good for developing the lat, triceps and back. The machine can accommodate Olympic weights. It took the consumer less time than he thought it would take to assemble it. It took him about 3.5 hours to assemble the machine which he did by himself. The tools that came with the machine are not reliable to put the machine together. He suggests using allen and crescent wrenches. The instructions are fairly clear and if you follow them the machine will go together pretty smoothly. The price tag is awfully high.

Another customer ordered their machine from Bisonoffice. The customer paid for expedited shipping which meant the customer should have received the machine on April 21, 2017, but the machine arrived on April, 27,2017 because the company shipped FedEx ground, not expedited shipping. The delivery company doesn’t deliver on Saturdays and they will only make one attempt a day. The machine came with rust on the parts and the customer was not happy about this. They will never order from Bison Office again and they said this was the worst shipping experience they ever had. The customer did get the machine unpacked and installed.

The customer said the instructions were not through. The customer also stated that when they did tricep exercises the machine tilted as other reviewers had commented that theirs tilted as well on the tricep exercises. The customer suggests you stand up when doing the tricep exercises and of course, this was not mentioned in the manual. For a $572.00 dollar machine it should not be tilting on the tricep exercises. This is a serious and dangerous flaw in the construction of the machine. The company needs to fix this issue. Someone could get seriously injured by this malfunction. You should not have to stand up to do tricep exercises after all it is a “pull down” machine which implies you should be sitting down when using the machine for any exercises.

This review was written by a gym employee. The machine filled the gap for a lot of exercises the gym could not provide before they got the gym. The reviewer recommends that you do not do any type of crossover exercises as they will cause the machine to lean. Another alarm is that any exercise that requires the machine to be pulled side to side will cause it to tip over. This is a very dangerous weakness in the construction of the machine as was stated earlier.

But if you use it as it is recommended there are no stability issues. This may be the case but you should be able to do crossover exercises on the machine without having to worry about it tipping over and taking you with it. On the assembly, the customer said to loosely place all the cables and pulley wheels before you lock the weight plate to the cable of the machine.

The customer also warned that the whole assembly process was written backwards. So instead of following the steps 1-10 you have to reverse the process and start with 10 and work your way back to 1. This is really sloppy instruction preparation on the part of the manufacturer. Again, another major issue that needs to be addressed. No One should pay $572.00 for a pulldown machine and have to assembly the machine backwards because the instructions were written in reverse order.

In all honesty, this is pretty poor craftsmanship and sloppy assembly instruction writing on the part of the manufacturer. The machine did not go through a very detailed quality assurance check before it was mass-produced and shipped out for customer use. The fact, that the machine will tip over when you do tricep or crossover exercises reflects this. Not to mention, the assembly instructions were written backward. These are pretty blatant oversights by the manufacturer. What does this say about their customer service?

TDS 600 lb. rated LATROW Machine with deluxe seat, Covered Foam knee holders, and removable front steel footrests

Benefits and Uses: The machine has durable all-bearing pulleys. It is rated at 600 lbs. lat/row machine specifications. It is constructed mainly of steel tubing. The steel tubing is 2″ by 2″ by 1/8″ and is durable and constructed to last a long time. It has a deluxe-stitched seat and strong end caps.It is recommended for certain exercises the user should stand up so the machine will not fall over. This sounds like maybe the machine is not so durable in construction after all. This could be a real safety hazard that if you do certain exercises the machine will tip over. It has covered foam knee holders and removable front steel footrests to keep the machine from tipping over when doing standing exercises. This is a safety hazard that if you do not remove these steel footrests while doing standing exercises the machine will tip over.

Feedback: There were no written reviews of this machine. The price tag may be a little high for the construction of the machine. The machine is basically made out of thin steel tubing. The steel footrests have to be removed to keep the machine from tilting is not a good sign of the quality of the machine construction. As noted above, the machine may tip over if certain exercises are not done standing up. For almost $200.00 dollars you would think the machine would be a little more stabilized in the construction of it. Also, there are some serious safety issues with the overall construction of the machine. The machine looks like it is cheaply put together. If a user is not careful using the pull-down machine serious injuries could result.

Akonza Lat Machine Low Row Cable Pull Down Fitness Closed Handle Attachment Pulldown

Benefits and Uses: This machine is supposed to really enhance muscle mass, endurance, and strength in a short time. But you still have to work hard to see any results. It is a free weight machine (it uses free weights) to target upper body muscles and it has high and low pulley stations. Supports may upper body exercises and it has smooth sealed ball-bearing pulleys, wide grip bars, and nylon bushings for smooth and quiet operation. The measurements are the standard 24″ by 48″ by 76.5″

Feedback: The reviewer openly admitted they were reserved about purchasing the machine because other reviews had stated the consumers had trouble with the shipping process. Some of the part s of the machine were delivered damaged. This person received the machine on time and had no issues with damaged parts. They assembled the machine themselves and it took them a little longer than they thought it would. The instructions were a diagram and the consumer made a mistake and had to go back and fix it.

The assembly instructions the company sent with the product was terrible. The consumer has experienced no movement while using the machine like others had said they did. They are in a small apartment and the machine fits perfectly in the apartment. The consumer has only used 25 lb. weights. If they experience the machine moving while they exercise they will weight the machine down. They are very happy with the purchase of this machine.

This client has been working out for years and was skeptical about the machine. He bought it and put it together using the diagram. Apparently, the assembly instructions for this machine are seriously lacking. This consumer found a creative way to assemble the machine using the diagram. He separated the bolts on pieces of paper and matched the number of bolts he had of each type with what was on the diagram. Then he assembled the machine. He suggests that you do not tighten all the bolts until the machine is completely put together because if you tighten them before the machine is assembled completely the remaining holes will not line up. He has a way to get around the machine tilting while he is exercising. He leans forward and this prevents the machine from tipping.

He is in his late forties and he no longer lifts a lot of heavyweights. Now, he lifts lighter weights but he does a lot of repetitions with the lighter weights. He is 6’2″ tall and says he can get some good stretches with the pulley system. The one weak link in the machine is the pulley system according to the customer. He is happy with the purchase of the machine.

Here again, we have a situation where the machine is unstable and may tip over if you do certain exercises on it. The one customer is saying he leans forward more than you would normally and this helps to stabilize the machine so it will not tip over. This is a creative method for preventing the machine from tipping over a bit it should not have to be done. The machine should be constructed in such a way that it is stable because it is constructed to be stable. This is poor craftsmanship on the part of the manufacturer. The assembly instructions are simply a picture of the machine or a diagram. You cannot put together a machine properly just following a diagram. People have done it. The point is for this kind of money the customer should not have to guess how to put the machine together by following a diagram. The machine should have extensive detailed assembly instructions in every box shipped.
